California Approves Bill For Protection Of Medical Marijuana Users In Need Of Organ Transplants

There could be hope in making it to the list of organ transplant hopefuls for those who have been receiving medical marijuana for treatment.

The use of marijuana for medical purposes has already been, for a while, accepted in California.

The Medical Cannabis Organization Act recalls [pdf] that in 1996 the state voted to adopt Proposition 215, also known as the Compassionate Use Act, which legalized the use of marijuana for medical purposes.

More than 75,000 people have registered Medical Cannabis Cards. Comprehensive public programs for medical cannabis are now also allowed in 23 states, according to the National Conference of State Legislators.

Snoop Dogg's show in Lansing excites marijuana backers

LANSING – When Snoop Dogg performs Saturday at the Common Ground Music Festival in Adado Riverfront Park, it could inspire his fans and supporters of Michigan's marijuana legalization movement to take some tokes ... and chances.

The 43-year-old rapper, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, is an avid marijuana supporter who has been known to light up on stage. He could inspire others to test the legal system in a Capital City run by Virg Bernero, who has become an advocate for legalizing marijuana in the state.

British Man’s Desperate Quest to Cure His Son’s Epilepsy—With Weed

This is Sam. He’s my son. His epilepsy caused him to have up to 100 seizures a day. After seven years we were out of options. Our last hope: an untested, unproven treatment. The only problem? It was illegal.

The hospital pharmacist slid three bottles of pills across the counter, gave my wife a form to sign, and reminded her that this was not the corner drugstore. The pharmacy knew how many pills had been dispensed, he said; it would know how many had been consumed; and it would expect her to return the unused pills before she left the country. The pharmacist made it clear that he was not only in touch with our doctor but with the company supplying the medication. They would know if she broke the rules.

Oakland Joins the World's Biggest Pot Shop to Battle the Feds

Is this how the war on weed ends?

Harborside Health Center in Oakland, California, is the largest medical marijuana dispensary in the world, serving nearly 200,000 patients and distributing $25 million in cannabis per year. It does so out in the open, under the auspices of California law and Oakland’s regulatory regime. Federal prosecutors, however, maintain an unfriendly stance on state-legal medical marijuana: it’s still illegal under federal law, and must be stopped.

CABINET GROW, Inc. from "Newbie" to CBNT

IRVINE, CA / ACCESSWIRE / July 2, 2015 / In 2008, a medical marijuana patient in Southern California set out to find a way to grow his own cannabis at home. After exhausting local and online resources, the confused "newbie" grower fell victim to a $5,000 faulty product. Instead of writing a bad review, he enlisted the help of a friend, completely overhauled the system, and the two started a small hydro store offering a haven for other misfit growers of various shapes and sizes. A safe place to share experiences with various cultivation methods and equipment, and sometimes even buy a custom grow cabinet or two to test a crazy idea. Customers always enjoyed the service, traditionally available only to the larger veteran grower.

California's 50,000 Pot Farms Are Sucking Rivers Dry

Each plant takes five gallons of water a day from legal and illegal water diversions

California lawmakers yesterday called for the regulation of marijuana farms to protect stream flows and help fish species like coho salmon and steelhead, which face possible extinction as the state's drought rages on.

In an informational hearing of the California State Senate Joint Committee of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Chairman Mike McGuire (D) of Healdsburg argued that a contingent of pot farmers in the state have disregarded the environment in favor of personal profit.

"Marijuana is literally sucking rivers dry," McGuire said.
