California to Regulate Marijuana Farming Water Use

Here's One Group of Cops Who Are All in for Marijuana Legalization (Really)

Generally, one of the biggest opponents of marijuana legalization in California is the law enforcement profession — but that's not without at least one big exception.

Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP), which describes itself as "a group of police, judges, prosecutors and other criminal justice professionals advocating for marijuana legalization," this week endorsed Proposition 64, the effort to legalize recreational cannabis in California.

LA Country Board of Supervisors Votes to Place Cannabis Business Tax on November Ballot

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted today to place a business tax on cannabis on the November 2016 ballot.

Today’s vote follows intense lobbying by a broad coalition including the California Cannabis Industry Association (CCIA), Drug Policy Alliance (DPA) and Angeles Emeralds and comes just two weeks after the Board voted to extend the County’s existing ban on cannabis cultivation and dispensaries for one full year.  If approved by the voters, revenues would be used to support homeless services in Los Angeles County.

Over 100 groups and individuals attended today’s Board Chamber to voice their support for the proposal, including representatives from CCIA.

Chuck Lorre-Kathy Bates Pot Comedy ‘Disjointed’ Ordered by Netflix

Netflix has given a series order to “Disjointed,” a comedy from Chuck Lorre.

The multi-camera comedy stars Kathy Bates as a lifelong marijuana-legalization advocate who realizes her dream of running a pot dispensary in Los Angeles. Working alongside Bates’s character are her son, three “budtenders” and a security guard. All are high most of the time.
