Cannabis Products a Bright Spot for Terra Tech' Second Quarter

Terra Tech (TRTC) reported financial results for the second quarter and the company saw significant growth from a revenue perspective on a year-over-year basis.

Although we are favorable on this top-line growth, a majority of this revenue was generated by its Edible Garden subsidiary which has a very low gross margin.

Cannabis Products…A Margin Story

Terra Tech’s cannabis products continue to be a bright spot for the company as revenue increased by more than 2,800% on a year-over-year basis.

LeafedIn.org: The Homegrown Marijuana App To Meet Anyone's Cannabis Needs

Although the legal framework of the marijuana industry in Los Angeles is strictly medicinal for the time being, it is still one of the largest marijuana markets in the United States. This creates a complex web of marijuana vendors, buyers, workers, and employers that needs to be navigated to most effectively meet their cannabis needs, especially when looking at the plethora of delivery services and small storefronts vying for competition.

Roy Exum: Marijuana Is On Fire

I have a bet, for just a Coca-Cola of course, that marijuana will be completely legal in the United States within 10 years. And the reason I am so keenly interested is because it is believed the climate and the soil of Tennessee are just perfect for raising a magnificent crop of ‘Ganja.’ Want me to go a step further: I want to grow it. Really, but I swear I don’t smoke it. Seriously it’s a great cash crop.

Growing (non-psychotic) hemp just became legal in Tennessee, which many believe is a step towards a different “weed.” Hemp is a cousin of “giggle weed,” don’t you see, and is used in so many things today it will boggle your mind.

Pot tax goes down in flames in California Legislature

A bill to put an excise tax on medical marijuana in California was killed Thursday by a Senate panel after advocates for cannabis users said it would put a financial burden on patients.

The Senate Appropriations Committee shelved AB 2243 with knowledge that California voters will consider a 15% pot tax on Nov. 8 when they take up Proposition 64, which would also legalize recreational use of cannabis.

The legislation by Assemblyman Jim Wood (D-Healdsburg) would have charged up to $9.25 per ounce of marijuana flowers, $2.75 per ounce of pot leaves and $1.25 per ounce of immature pot plants.

Head of California’s medical marijuana bureau visits Coalinga

The woman spearheading a statewide effort to regulate the booming but controversial medical marijuana industry is traveling across California to learn more about pot – and teach industry insiders about the state’s lawmaking process.

Lori Ajax, five months into her position as the chief of the newly formed California Bureau of Medical Cannabis Regulation, visited Coalinga last month. Coalinga is the first city in the central San Joaquin Valley to embrace medical cannabis. The city legalized its manufacture and sold a vacant prison to a cannabis oil manufacturer in July.

San Diego Medical Pot Expo Focuses on Innovation

Conference puts spotlight on biotech, science in industry.

An 8-year-old girl and a panel of former professional athletes were among those speaking on the final day of the first medical marijuana conference ever held at the San Diego Convention Center.

Unlike other marijuana-related events, such as the Hempcon and the Cannabis Cup, there was no weed or products containing its psychoactive component, THC, at the two-day Southern California Cannabis Conference and Expo. With 210 booths, panels of speakers and up to 3,000 attendees per day, the expo’s focus was more biotech than bongs, more science than stoners, organizers and participants said.

Marijuana, Tobacco Taxes Could Bring $2 Billion (or More) to California

Smoking marijuana or tobacco could come at a heftier price after November in California.  (Photo: Thinkstock)

California voters will be asked in November whether or not the state should levy new taxes on two 'sins' -- tobacco and marijuana use.

Often referred to as 'sin taxes,' an excise tax on a good that's considered harmful is intended to curb the use of that good by increasing its cost to the consumer.

For Californians in November,  will weigh whether tobacco should have a higher tax rate and if marijuana should be legalized and taxed? If voters approved the two measures, Props. 56 and 64 respectively, the measure have the potential to bring $2 billion in tax revenue to the state, according to the Legislative Analyst's Office.

Powdered THC Packs May Be The Most Convenient Way To Create Edibles

Making edibles can be an ordeal. Even basic recipes tend to use cannabutter or oil, which takes time, and lots of product, to create. Given the choice between labour-intensive kitchen science, and busting out the vaporizer, most of us choose the latter.

Cannabis Farmer's Markets Are Eliminating The Gap Between Growers and Patients

Hipsters, hippies, and young families love farmer's markets: after all, what's not to love? Sampling new things. Eschewing factory-farmed, environmentally unsustainable produce in favour of organic goodies grown by a farmer you've actually met and conversed with. Best of all? What you're buying is not only awesome and delicious, but also grown without scary pesticides and exploitative, factory farming techniques.
