This retired Canadian Olympian wants cannabis taken off the Games' banned substances list

The ban on Olympic athletes using cannabis is outdated and needs to change, says retired Canadian Olympic hurdler Perdita Felicien.

The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency said Friday that American sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson has accepted a 30-day suspension after testing positive for THC, the psychoactive chemical found in marijuana. As a result, her Olympic trials results have been erased, and she won't be allowed to compete in her signature 100-metre dash at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.

Surprisingly Smart Data for Cannabis Tourism

Lately, there’s been quite a bit of ‘buzz’ about the notion of cannabis tourism and its potential impact on global tourism generally.

I have attended several webinars and information sessions over the past year or two directed at tour operators, restaurateurs, and innkeepers on how to prepare for and engage potential audiences.

It appears that operating cannabis tourism space will never be easy.

Even if one thinks they may have the audience part figured out, operating such a business can be difficult to manage, and is dependent upon what region of the world one occupies.

Light up a joint in some parts of the world and we might never hear from you again…

This Canadian Cannabis Company Just Made a Big Move Toward U.S. Success

Cronos Group (NASDAQ:CRON) has been chomping at the bit to get into the U.S. market. And that's evident even from its financials. Although the company makes the bulk of its money in Canada, it includes that in its "rest of world" segment. The company has been launching hemp-based products in the U.S. for the sake of penetrating the market. And it is also working on developing low-cost cannabis products that could make it a big player in the industry.

What Buffalo Niagara can learn from Canada's cannabis industry experiment

As New York State gets ready to kick off the legal pot industry, cannabis industry professionals from Ontario have a few suggestions to bear in mind.

Put simply, they said: Learn from our mistakes.

It’s been three years since the Cannabis Act of 2018 legalized the growth and sale of marijuana in Canada, and the city of Hamilton has seen both the positives and the negatives from the law and the regulatory framework that was put in place.

The city went from about 80 illicit pot businesses to more than 100 legal retail stores.

CannTrust's former CEO and two directors charged with fraud over unlicensed pot growing scandal

Fraud charges have been laid against CannTrust Holdings Inc.’s former chief executive Peter Aceto and two former directors, all of whom face possible jail time of up to five years if found guilty in a sweeping quasi-criminal case led by the Ontario Securities Commission.

Company co-founder and former board chair Eric Paul and former director Mark Litwin are also charged with insider trading following a months-long investigation by Canada’s largest capital markets regulator. The OSC moved in following blockbuster revelations in the summer of 2019 that a Health Canada inspection of the publicly traded company uncovered unlicensed cannabis growing at its Pelham, Ont. facility.
