Paying MMJ Employees in Cash? Not anymore!

The cannabis industry is experiencing extreme growth. There is no better example of this than a recent press release from The State of Colorado stating that they are now receiving more tax dollars from marijuana than alcohol. Try wrapping your brain around that!

Aside from this growth, the cannabis industry is still in its infancy. Due to regulations and federal laws, operating a business in this industry is anything but easy. A common problem that affects all businesses in the industry is paying employees. Yes, you heard it right! Paying employees in this industry is extremely difficult and dangerous. So difficult and dangerous, that I decided to built a business to fix this exact issue.

Dispensaries in many states have been offering holiday specials for medical customers for years — but this first season of open-to-all-adults marijuana sales in some states means pot shops are using more of the tricks used by traditional retailers to attract holiday shoppers.

Here’s a look at how the new recreational marijuana industry is trying to attract holiday shoppers:

Can small businesses really cash in on the legal pot boom?

When Washington state legalized recreational marijuana, libertarian James Lathrop saw running a dispensary as something of a political duty. Indeed, Lathrop, the owner of Cannabis City, Seattle's first legal pot shop, is known for declaring "free the weed" just before opening his doors on July 8, 2014.

The Pot Scientist Explains All, Via YouTube

Trained scientist Carter Baird has created a quirky online persona, with the mission of educating the public about cannabis and the legal marijuana industry.

~

Carter Baird seems genuinely surprised at some of the questions he has fielded in his short tenure as The Pot Scientist. While wandering around Denver’s 16th Street pedestrian mall in a lab coat, Baird coaxes both Colorado residents and tourists alike to come up with any queries they might have about cannabis.

And a lot of those questions, he tells WeedWorthy, have to do with popular misconceptions; such as whether marijuana consumption can make men sterile.

Weakness in This Cannabis Social Network Creates Opportunity

Over the last week, the market has seen MassRoots, Inc. (MSRT) fall 17% and this weakness has created a great opportunity for investors. The market significantly undervalues MSRT's underlying intellectual property, which the company continues to enhance and develop through strategic partnerships.

When investing in cannabis stocks, investors need to be cautious. Many of these companies offer a product which can be easily replicated by another business. This is not the case for MSRT. The company not only has a first move advantage, but its technology is protected by patents and would be very difficult to replicate.

CSU collects materials documenting the marijuana legalization movement

This summer, Colorado’s State University’s Archives and Special Collections Department started gathering materials to create the Amendment 64 Collection.

This archival collection will consist of any documents related to the legalization of marijuana in effort to preserve this historical event.

Janet Bishop, the coordinator for Archives and Special Collections at CSU, introduced the idea of finding materials for an archive on this topic.

“I guess it’s fair to say it was my idea, but I did get input,” Bishop said. “I thought this would be good, even though perhaps controversial.”

Cannabis producers have legal alternatives to "organic" label

Organic Cannabis Association of Denver could begin certifying cannabis as pesticide-free this fall

Any other operation that routinely labeled its products "organic" without certification to back up the claim would have been shut down and fined almost immediately, an expert in organic certification said.

Colorado's cannabis industry, though, has benefited from the regulatory gray area where it resides, producing a product that is legal to consume and sell in Colorado but remains illegal under federal law.
