Can You Buy Marijuana With a Credit Card?

Despite legal uncertainties, some pot dispensaries accept plastic.

It’s been more than a year since legal recreational pot sales started in Colorado, and as much as dispensary owners enjoy the booming business, they’re sick of swimming in cash. Though the Department of Justice released regulations last year allowing banks to accept money from legal dispensaries, it’s still a federal crime — the announcement that the DOJ won’t pursue institutions that process legal pot money hasn’t been enough to make everyone comfortable.

Highest Terpene Concentrates at the 2015 US Cannabis Cup in Denver

Without belittling THC or CBD, many growers and extract artists alike have set their sights on terpenes. THC alone has little to no flavor, while CBD can taste like cherries on its own. The real flavor in a good concentrate comes from the terpenoid content.

Denver halts some pot sales over bug spray worries

DENVER — City officials temporarily halted the sale of millions of dollars worth of legal marijuana because of concerns that unapproved pesticides or fungicides have contaminated it.

This past Friday alone, city officials placed a "hold" on 60,000 plants at a single grow facility here after consulting with state agriculture inspectors and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. They previously had placed crops from six other facilities on similar holds, allowing the plants to keep growing but blocking their sale to consumers.

Some growers have destroyed their crops instead of waiting for test results, which are still pending.

Geeky Pot Testing Pioneers Seek To Leverage Colorado's Jewish Marijuana Connection

Seth Wong’s place of work is heavily cluttered, with shelves loaded with moldy bagels, stale cake and fermenting carrots. There’s a not-so-faint smell of urine in the air.

But if all goes according to plan for Wong and his new business partner, JJ Slatkin, their new office soon will have something else in abundance: marijuana.

The two Jewish 30-somethings are launching a new company that will offer contaminant testing and potency analysis for cannabis, which Colorado legalized in 2014.

Video: Will Colorado voters keep $58 million in excess pot taxes or not?

Colorado lawmakers are deciding what to do with the $58 million owed back to taxpayers, but if they put it to a vote will Coloradans allow the state to keep the pot tax refund money and put it toward needed infrastructure?

“I think so,” said marijuana lawyer Josh Kappel of Vicente Sederberg. “That was our intention when we ran the campaign, for marijuana to be taxed and to provide a net benefit for the economy.”

Rising marijuana sales leave pot shops flush with cash they can't deposit

Two months from now, on July 1, Oregon will become the fourth state to allow residents to legally purchase marijuana for recreational use. In anticipation of legalization, the governing body that will oversee marijuana licensing and sales is preparing for something unexpected: A huge influx of cold, hard cash.

Legal marijuana in states like Colorado and Washington have surpassed revenue expectations in their first few years. But when marijuana businesses try to pay their taxes, the federal law that makes marijuana illegal limits their access to financial institutions.

Violent Robbery At Medical Pot Dispensary Caught On Camera

DENVER (CBS4) – Surveillance video shows the distress during a violent armed robbery last week at a Denver medical marijuana dispensary.

Shortly after 9 a.m. last Wednesday four men broke into the High St Cannabis Station near the intersection of East 14th Avenue and High Street.

The owner said one man ordered a female employee to the ground, then fired two shots at another worker who tried to run into the alley. The shots missed, and the robbers ran out with edibles and hash oil.

“Somebody got shot or I thought it was a crash or something like that,” said neighbor Oscar Saucedo.

He saw two of the suspects get out of a dark blue Nissan Armada. He said the crime has rocked the neighborhood.
