Video: The weed joke Republican U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner made in a meeting

U.S. Cory Gardner chimes in during discussion on cherry blossoms.

So, U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner doesn’t even make the video and he steals the show with his one-liner?

It happened during a discussion this morning about, of all things, cherry blossoms during the Communications, Technology, Innovation, & the Internet Subcommittee hearing on “Advancing Telehealth through Connectivity.”

How To Brand, Market, And Sell Marijuana Without Breaking The Law

Earlier this year, Dixie Elixirs & Edibles, perhaps Colorado’s best-known cannabis brand, took its THC-infused drinks off the market. It had no choice.

That's because a couple of weeks later, on February 1, new packaging regulations for recreational marijuana edibles went into effect in the state and the screw top aluminum bottles were no longer compliant.

Are marijuana regulations weeding out family farmers?

Perry asked me not to use his last name. It wasn’t because of the plants in his basement — they’re perfectly legal now — but more out of garden-variety stoner’s paranoia. He worried some enemy might see his name in the news and come looking for him.

Whatever — his identity isn’t important. It’s not like he was leaking potentially false information about weapons of mass destruction. I was just there to talk to him about his experience and his opinions. He has red hair, thinning on top, but growing vigorously in a bushy beard beneath. He’s wearing rectangular framed glasses, a Grant Farm concert T-shirt, and shorts.

And then the freshman senator from Colorado made a pot joke

Just a little bipartisan repartee on Capitol Hill.

During a Senate Commerce subcommittee hearing on “telehealth” advancements Tuesday, the panel’s chairman Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) wondered aloud where he could go see cherry blossoms since he missed peak bloom here in Washington.

Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) perked up, thanking Wicker for the opportunity to boast about Newark’s cherry blossom collection — the country’s largest. Booker was so elated — “sir, you have just earned so much love from me” — he suggested he now had a “bromance” with Wicker. (Rand Paul will be so sad.)

More Options in Raising Capital

A key to surviving and succeeding as an entrepreneur is to have fallbacks – secondary strategies to employ when the primary strategy fails to achieve the desired result.  This is particularly true when raising capital.  An entrepreneur who walks away from a pitch with no money is normal.  Statistics on bank applications and angel presentations show that over 95% of the time the pitch will fail.  The entrepreneur must pick themselves up and dust themselves off and go pitch again.

The single most common reason that an entrepreneur fails to obtain capital when making a pitch is that they are pitching to the wrong capital source.  The deal that the entrepreneur has to offer does not match the criteria of the investor.

DJ/Producer GRiZ Creates Own Weed Strain, Wins Big at Cannabis Cup

GRiZ may be the first artist to ever release both a new album and a marijuana strain in the span of a month.

The green is no mere gimmick either. According to High Times, the Boulder, Colo. resident's "GRiZ Kush" strain won second place in the Cannabis Cup's "People's Choice Flowers" category in Denver on Sunday (April 19).

"Having your own strain of weed is every young stoner's dream," he says.

Created in partnership with Colo. dispensary chain Native Roots, the strain is a sativa dominant hybrid cross between parent plants Tangerine Haze and Pakistan Chitral Kush. GRiZ says Native Roots owner Rhett Jordan originally proposed the venture as a joint collaboration.
