Cannabis Wedding Expo: Plan a weed wedding at this first-of-its-kind event

While some modern weddings are dry — no alcohol served, not even for Uncle Larry — most receptions welcome intoxicants that inevitably pack the dance floor with flirty smiles and happy feet.

But what about that kinda new, kinda not, increasingly legal intoxicant marijuana? Cannabis Concierge Events owner Bec Koop knows that weed is no stranger to the after-wedding party.

“I sometimes joke: With every single wedding that we’ve been to, there’s probably been at least one person out in the car in the parking lot getting high,” Koop recently told The Cannabist. “So let’s be honest — it’s always been there, it’s been a part of almost every party and event scene, so why not incorporate it?”

Boulder to give grants for marijuana education

Health officials fear legalization makes drug seem safe; council urges broader approach

Surveys of Boulder County teenagers show that a substantial majority view binge-drinking as a harmful behavior. A much smaller majority sees regular marijuana use in the same light.

Public health officials fear that the recent legalization of marijuana gives too many teenagers and parents the impression that it is safe.

Boulder plans to make up to $250,000 available next year for education efforts aimed at changing perceptions and reducing marijuana use among young people.

Most Colorado Voters Say Legal Marijuana Is A Good Thing

Men were more likely to support marijuana legalization than women.

It's been almost two years since Colorado regulated recreational marijuana for sale, and according to a Quinnipiac University poll released on Friday, a majority of the state's voters support the decision and say its outcome has been good.

Fifty-five percent of Colorado voters surveyed support the law that legalized marijuana in 2012 and officially regulated the sale of the drug in 2014. Forty-one percent stand opposed. Slightly over half of Coloradans think the outcome has been good for the state, while 39 percent say it's been bad.

Denver requires social-media announcements for pot pesticide recalls

Worried too few consumers know about pot recalls, Denver officials require companies use social media to flag the public

Denver health officials are requiring marijuana companies that recall products tainted with unapproved pesticides to use websites and social media accounts to alert consumers.

The move comes amid concerns that few customers are learning about nine recalls the city has announced affecting tens of thousands of items across dozens of product names.

Just three of the companies involved told their customers directly, a Denver Post check of their social media accounts showed.

Are Marijuana Resorts Going to Become a Trend?

Is Colorado starting a new trend?

In South Dakota, cannabis users can now experience a new trend of relaxation and respite: marijuana resorts. While marijuana is not yet legal in the state, the government legalized cannabis specifically on Santee Sioux land in June, 2015. The policy allows Indian tribes on reserves to grow and sell cannabis under similar regulations to those of states with legalized marijuana, granting these tribes an exclusive revenue stream. While some groups may be hesitant, the revenue potential has others cashing in.

Report: Marijuana sales in CO at $740M so far in 2015

Analysis by Boulder firm shows recreational sales up 81 percent

Preliminary data released from Boulder data analysis firm BDS Analytics has confirmed what tax revenues have already shown: Coloradans love legal pot.

All told, dispensary sales in the state were $290 million for the quarter, a 53 percent increase over last year's $190 million quarterly sales.

Year to date, dispensary sales are about $740 million.

"Marijuana is going to be a $1 billion business in Colorado this year, or very damn close," said Roy Bingham, founder and CEO of BDS. "It's the fastest growing industry in America, I would say."

A full consumer report, the first of its kind, is due out near the end of the year.

How The Legal Weed Industry Is Squeezing Out Women Growers

On a warm September evening, about 70 women gather at The Peg House, a famed roadside burger joint on Northern California’s Highway 101. They arrive in a stream of 4x4 trucks and carpools of Subarus; some have driven hours from remote hillside homesteads. At the state park across the road, there’s plenty of room to pitch tents under the redwoods.
