Is Arizona the next state to legalize recreational marijuana?

Last week, I wrote about the need for research into the positive effects of marijuana. I chose this as my first topic because of how important I believe it to be. If I had to list in order of importance that would be issue 1A and issue 1B would be the decriminalization of marijuana.

This is another area where progress has been made, but there is still much work ahead.

Many states are hoping to have votes on marijuana laws this election. Our state is no exception.  The Campaign to Regulate Marijuana like Alcohol, a ballot-initiative backed by the Washington-based Marijuana Policy Project, has the same formula led to legalizing weed in Colorado. MPP has helped states lobby for and pass reform of Marijuana laws since founded in 1995.

Fmr NBA Player Jay Williams: 80% of Players Use Marijuana

Former Chicago Bulls guard and three-time Duke All-American Jay Williams says it’s about time the NBA gets more progressive when it comes to marijuana.

Williams estimates that 75 to 80 percent of athletes use marijuana in the NBA.“It’s easy for doctors to prescribe you Oxycontin and look I was addicted to it for five plus years so I know,” Williams tells FOXBusiness.com. “But when you say marijuana you get a reaction, ahhh, it’s a gateway drug.”

“You see pictures of guys in California going in and getting their medical marijuana cards. And I’m not just saying athletes, let’s talk about society. I know a lot of people that use it. It’s something that the whole world is becoming more progressive with. So it’s about time some of these entities do as well,” he adds.

The Hidden Danger in Unregulated Marijuana Edibles

Buying snack foods and beverages is a common occurrence. We routinely review the package label of all the ingredients, as well as the serving size and calorie content. We trust that the products we buy are made in a safe, clean environment.

Yet, for marijuana infused food products, no set standards exist. Currently, the food and beverage products containing tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, the psychoactive ingredient in pot, have absolutely no oversight, and there is no way a consumer can know how potent the snack item is or if it contains an allergen. Users of these products really have no idea what they are smoking or eating and this unknown can be deadly.

Billy Crystal's Banned Cannabis Commercial

Billy Crystal - who turns 68 this week - is undeniably a comedy legend. But when he was just another up-and-comer, his first big break was actually a bust, all because of network practices regarding marijuana.

Back in the early 70s, the "When Harry Met Sally" star was a member of the struggling comedy trio "3's Company". However, opportunity came knocking when they were signed by TV host David Frost to make an appearance on a network special called "That Was The Year That Was" (1973).

France And Canada Have The Most Teenage Weed Smokers

(AFP) – France and Canada have the highest percentage of 15-year-old pot smokers among 42 well-off nations surveyed by the World Health Organization, the UN agency said in a report Tuesday.

When it comes to policing marijuana, France is far from the most laid-back country in Europe, so the findings come as something of a surprise.

Amsterdam flaunts its cannabis cafes and Barcelona its private reefer clubs, but neither the Netherlands nor Spain were among the top eight nations in which teens admitted they had used cannabis in the last 30 days, according to the study, based on data from 2014.

Fifteen percent of 15-year-olds in France — slightly more boys than girls — said they had indulged, with Canada’s young stoners close behind.

New Zealand: Time to Regulate the Cannabis Industry

Currently, the New Zealand cannabis industry is worth millions of dollars per year and is totally unregulated due to the legal status of cannabis. This has led to all sale and distribution being controlled by career criminals who have no ethics when it comes to selling this product to children or trying to push harder damaging drugs to their customers.

It is also causing many ill people in this country to suffer unnecessarily.

Our government bought into the "war on drugs", started in the US.

There are 2 main areas of regulation to be considered, in relation to cannabis, which are medicinal and recreational.

Medicinal Cannabis
