Teenage cannabis smokers face NO increased risk of mental or physical health problems, shock ...

Researchers 'surprised' after watching adolescent weed lovers dodge depression, psychosis and even asthma.

Heavy weed smoking during adolescence does NOT increase boys' risk of developing mental or physical health problems later in life, astonishing new research has claimed.

The findings fly in the face of previous studies which claimed cannabis use can alter teens' brain structure and ruin their memory.

Researchers from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Rutgers University tracked 408 males from adolescence into their mid-30s.

They expected to see teenage cannabis users face an increased risk of developing lung cancer, asthma, depression or psychotic symptoms including delusions and hallucinations.

Is it time to legalize marijuana in sports?

Former SDSU and New Orleans Saints lineman Kyle Turley says marijuana is the only drug that has really helped him, and that it's safer than opioids

You’ve seen the ubiquitous prescription drug commercials on television.

A happy couple walks hand-in-hand along an isolated beach as the sun sets in the background. The drug name flashes across the screen. Cue a voiceover listing all the possible side effects – always in staccato speed because, well, the number of possible side effects is long enough that it would take a while to get through them all at regular pace.

Kyle Turley was watching one of those commercials earlier this year when he decided enough was enough. He was done with synthetic drugs.

Study Finds Alcohol Is The Gateway Drug, Not Marijuana

A new study in The Journal of School Health has found that alcohol is more likely to act as a gateway drug to substance abuse than marijuana.

The study proves that marijuana consumption is not an indicator as to whether a person is likely to move onto harder drugs or not.

Neuroscientist Carl Hart: People will always use drugs, we must learn to live with this fact

Carl Hart, a neuroscientist and professor at Columbia University, has given a powerful TED talk arguing for the decriminalisation of all drugs, challenging classist and racist stereotypes about drug use and calling for a new approach to the consumption of psychoactive substances.

Hart stresses that drug users must not be demonised and all lumped into the same category with a couple of powerful examples:

'Weed out the dealers and destroy the black market' say cannabis campaigners at rally

‘GROW your own and weed out the dealers’, was the message from cannabis activists pushing for legalisation at an event in the region this weekend.

The weekend saw hundreds of campaigners from across the UK descend on Redcar for the second annual pro-cannabis rally, organised by the Teesside Cannabis Club (TCC).

The event passed without trouble or police presence – a sign, say organisers, of changing attitudes towards use of the class-B drug.

Following the event, John Holiday – founder of TCC – called once again for the regulation and decriminalisation of cannabis.

The wonders of cannabis

If it were not for its problematic public image, cannabis, or marijuana, would be one of the most common crops on earth. It is easy and economical to grow, it can quickly spread to fill fields the size of forests, it is used to manufacture fabric and paper, and for thousands of years its flowers have been extracted to produce medicine for various ailments.

In fact, until the 1930s, many pharmacies kept medications that contained cannabis. So, what happened?

The fact that the cultivation and processing of cannabis into textile was cheaper than cotton posed a threat to the American cotton industry, and like many other monopolies that hire lobbyists, the cotton farmers tried to find the best way to eliminate the competition.

Teens More Likely to Follow Friends and Use E-Cigs

Positive attitudes toward e-cigarettes from friends and family were associated with their use among teens, according a small survey of Southern California high school students.

In the survey of more than 2,000 students, there was a greater risk of vaping by teens associated with a greater number of their friends using e-cigarettes, and a more favorable reaction to e-cigarettes by their best friends (P<0.05), reported Jessica L. Barrington-Trimis, PhD, of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, and colleagues.

High end summer vacations for pot lovers

With the legalization of marijuana in four states and Washington, D.C., the marijuana tourism industry is starting to bud — and go upscale. Think “Napa Valley,” with weed.

By Spencer Peterson, Travel+ Leisure.

Four states and the District of Columbia have legalized marijuana for recreational use, but only Colorado and Washington have licensed dispensaries that can legally sell recreational cannabis. Since legalization and sale came to those communities, the budding pot industry in these two states has tried to shape a future of vineyard-esque tours of marijuana farms, and fatty-friendly salons reminiscent of Amsterdam’s cafes. (The phrase “Napa Valley of weed” gets tossed around a fair bit.)
