More than $2 million worth of cannabis and stolen property seized

Five people have been charged after $2 million of cannabis and stolen property were seized, says Oxford OPP.

On Sept. 7, a search warrant was executed at Oxford Road 29 in Blandford-Blenheim Township by Oxford County provincial police; the community street crime unit, supported by other West Region street crime units; the West Region emergency response team and the provincial joint forces cannabis enforcement team.

Police reportedly seized more than 1,300 cannabis plants, more than 300 pounds of processed cannabis, an amount of suspected cocaine, hashish, cannabis resin, firearms and a stolen vehicle.

Tremblant Cannabis by Laurentian Organic launches premium craft hashish in stores across Ontario this week.

Tremblant Cannabis (TC) announces its launch plans for the Ontario hash market today, with co-founder and President Eric Brosseau leading the charge. In partnership with Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS), TC will make their craft hashish available to consumers across the province. Products will be in dispensaries as soon as September 18th, and online on September 21st, 2021. Retailers looking to add the in-demand products to their stores will be able to do so as early as September 14th.

Delta farm gate cannabis sales on the horizon?

It’s not on their radar just yet.That’s what Mandesh Dosanjh, president and CEO of Pure Sunfarms, recently told the Optimist about farm gate sales at their cannabis greenhouse operation in East Ladner.

 

The provincial government is currently working to establish a program that will allow producers to have direct delivery as well as farm gate sales.

Announced last year, the new program follows input and recommendations from long-time cannabis growers, Indigenous leaders and other stakeholders, giving Health Canada-licensed small-scale producers, including nurseries, the option of delivering cannabis directly to licensed retailers.

OPP seizes cannabis worth an estimated $35M

Five people have been charged with possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution and cultivating illicit cannabis following last week’s discovery of about $35 million worth of cannabis east of Cobourg, Ont.

Citing the Northumberland County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, Global News reports that both cannabis plants and products were discovered during the raid last Friday.

(TORONTO, ON) – An investigation into illicit cannabis production and distribution in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) has resulted in the seizure of nearly $1.5 million in illicit cannabis and illicit cannabis products, as well as charges against Toronto residents under the Cannabis Act, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and the Criminal Code of Canada.

McMaster University-led study shows some pain relief from use of medical cannabis

Some people living with chronic pain may find some relief from using cannabis and have minimal side effects, according to an international study led by McMaster University scientists.

Data from 32 randomized controlled trials shows the use of non-inhaled medical cannabis, as opposed to a placebo, resulted in small improvements in pain relief.

It also showed small benefits in physical functioning and sleep.

There were minor side effects reported, including dizziness, drowsiness, impaired attention and nausea.

A 16-year-old Cochrane resident is facing a number of charges following a traffic stop on Highway 11 west of Cochrane by officers from the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police on Monday.

After stopping the vehicle and speaking with the driver, the 16-year-old was arrested and charged.
