Assembly: Concentrate marijuana carefully or else

Anybody attempting to make marijuana concentrates using butane, propane or any other such chemical had better think twice. Not only could using these gases result in a potentially deadly explosion, they will now result in misdemeanor charges, too.

Without objection, the City and Borough of Juneau Assembly passed an ordinance Monday evening making it illegal for anybody without a license or permit to make marijuana concentrate — waxes, oils, etc. — using extraction methods that are not alcohol-, food- or water-based. This ordinance applies to all city zones; no permit or license, no gas-based extraction.

Why can't we grow medical marijuana in Georgia?

Families share stories of how cannabis oil has alleviated their children’s suffering—but lawmakers remained worried that stoners will take over the state

Abby Conforti was two years old when she was diagnosed with severe autism. Shortly after her third birthday, she began repeatedly biting her right arm and violently screaming. Jennifer and Bryan Conforti characterized their daughter’s meltdowns as “demonic,” and said they were afraid to hold their child. “My arms are covered with bruises and cuts from her trying to rip my arms off of her,” Jennifer said last month. “If she can’t bite herself, she’ll bite us.”

Medical Marijuana Supporters Keep Pushing For Access In Illinois

BLOOMINGTON — Dave Stewart of Normal wasn't deterred by the state's decision last week not to expand access to medical marijuana.

After the Department of Public Health announced the drug would continue to be barred for patients with eight medical conditions, including post-traumatic stress disorder, Stewart said he plans to keep pushing.

“It just makes it to where we have to fight even more,” he said.

For Stewart, who suffers from PTSD related to two tours of Army service in Iraq, that's "talking to people,” he said.

But that's exactly what's necessary, said Medical Cannabis Alliance of Illinois Chairman Ross Morreale of Chicago.

For 2015, our country’s legitimate marijuana business was worth $5.4 billion and much of the growth was due to a rise in recreational sales, which went from $351 million in 2014 to $998 million in 2015.

Oregon orders popular marijuana pesticide pulled from shelves

Oregon agriculture officials have ordered a halt to sales of a pesticide popular with marijuana growers after a state lab confirmed that an active ingredient was not listed on the product's label.

The Oregon Department of Agriculture said the pesticide, Guardian, should be removed from store shelves and asked growers who bought the product not to use it. The manufacturer is All In Enterprises of Machesney Park, Illinois.

A statewide stop sale order is unusual and typically does not involve labeling problems, said Bruce Pokarney, a spokesman for the agency.

Tommy McCathron, listed as president of All in Enterprises in Illinois Secretary of State records, said Monday that he didn't want to discuss Guardian.

Marijuana legalization could be a major issue in the New Hampshire primary

Marijuana is ripe for reform in New Hampshire, and pro-reform candidates might see that pay off with primary voters.

As New Hampshire gears up for Tuesday’s 2016 presidential primary, marijuana reform is shaping up to be a significant issue for both parties.

New Hampshire is currently considering a marijuana decriminalization bill and two legalization bills, and polls show a majority of voters in the state support both moves, according to the Marijuana Policy Project.

Edible Weed May Be Half of the $5.4 Billion Pot Business

Cannabis-infused edibles are about far more than peace, love, and higher consciousness.

Peggy Noonan knows a thing or two about marijuana. She was a drug runner between Mexico and the U.S., before earning her living as a dealer in Arizona. Both stints ended badly, with Noonan serving time in a Mexican jail and slapped with federal probation in Arizona. All that feels like ancient history, says Noonan, who’s among the thousands of “ganjapreneurs” in the burgeoning market for edible marijuana products. “It was pretty wild, life coming full circle,” she says.
