Marijuana users in Nunavik thinner, with less diabetes

Vancouver Police say illegal marijuana store had ties to organized crime

Vancouver Police have now executed a search warrant on an illegal marijuana store after it was determined that the store had ties to organized crime.

Members of the VPD’s Drug Unit executed the warrant at Limelife Society, located at 4866 Rupert Street.

Police say one employee was arrested and released at the scene and police seized some evidence as part of their investigation.

In July, investigators say they received information that the store had ties to an organized crime group. Further investigation revealed that marijuana was being sold to youth and to those without a valid license.

Harper’s pot stance versus science

A new report counters many of the PM’s campaign trail claims about marijuana policy

The scourge of marijuana looms large in Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s world, and in his campaign rhetoric. There are the ubiquitous Conservative Party’s “just not ready” attack ads that target Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau’s plan to legalize and regulate pot. And in the run-up to the election call, Health Canada spent $1.5 million in public funds to rerun its broadcast and Internet spots warning of the dangers of prescription drug and marijuana abuse. While Health Canada’s ads mesh perfectly with Conservative policy, they failed to get an endorsement from the Canadian Medical Association, which deemed the campaign “a political football on Canada’s marijuana policy.”

Cannabis causes schizophrenia. Cannabis regulation leads to increased traffic fatalities. These are just some of the examples that seem to pop up, again and again, in news articles and online. They sound true, perhaps because they are repeated so many times, and also because they are often said to be based on scientific evidence.

Vancouver marijuana storefronts blamed for licensed producers falling short of expectations

Canada’s legal medicinal-marijuana suppliers are struggling, and part of the reason why is Vancouver’s illegal cannabis storefronts.
