Marijuana Dating App Gains 2,000 Users Daily

One of the most common misconceptions about cannabis is that it has the same effect on everyone who consumes it. This, however, couldn’t be further from the truth: some people are social smokers, some people want to work out when they are high, and some people would rather cozy up in front of a movie on Netflix with a bag of gummy worms (or kale chips). With modern technology helping people find companions for virtually every other type of activity they might want to partake in, it seems only natural that an app would emerge to help people find companions for smoking weed.

Unlikely advocate fights for medical marijuana access

Like any working mom, Denise Pollicella is busy.

The Howell-area attorney, a mother of two, balances her legal cases with other duties, such as taking her daughter to dance class.

Yet for the past several years, she’s also joined efforts to draft model legislation that would revise laws governing the growth, sale and distribution of medical marijuana in Michigan.

It’s legislation she believes is long overdue.

“Seven years ago, Michigan voters overwhelmingly approved the legalization of medical marijuana, and yet the Legislature hasn’t acted,” she said.

Marijuana use is legal in Michigan for patients with a doctor’s prescription and a state certified ID card. Patients can also designate a caregiver, who also must be certified by the state.

Pre-Employment Drug Screens Stigmatize Stoners Even in Legal States

When I do a little research into job ads and their pre-employment drug screening policies, it actually blows my mind a bit. I don’t think any job should require drug screenings. I’m a strong supporter of personal freedoms so long as they don’t cause harm.

For my personal experience, I have only had to deal with one pre-hiring drug screening, and I opted out of the job before I ever even had to do it. A few years back I was unexpectedly furloughed from my job at a university for three months and needed to find something on the fly to bring in a little money. I was a chef for about 15 years and always know I can get a job slinging food when I need to.

Philly420: From Deleware to Detroit, Plans Differ for Medical Marijuana

Advocates for medical marijuana are quick to point out that 23 states have passed some sort of therapeutic cannabis law. All of them are different. They range from the broadly worded (California) to severely restrictive (New Jersey). The truth is that only a handful of these states actually offer programs that serve a majority of patients.

Robust programs are running in Maine, Oregon, Washington, Colorado and California. These states offer the widest array of access from home cultivation, collective gardens and professional dispensaries. The rest of the country struggles to compete for a similar level of compassion.

North Carolina House committee kills medical marijuana bill

Raleigh, N.C. — Joseph Malinowski told the House Judiciary I Committee on Wednesday that he doesn't want to be a lawbreaker, but neither does he want to suffer with the aftermath of cancer or the symptoms of multiple sclerosis when medical marijuana can ease the pain.

"I spent 21 days in Harnett County jail, first time in my life I've ever been in any kind of trouble," Malinowski said. "But this helps me. I think it could help a lot more people."

Despite pleas from a number of people who testified that medical cannabis has helped treat either themselves or loved ones, the committee rejected legislation that would have legalized marijuana use for certain patients.

Why are we poking a parallel universe?

The 27-kilometre long Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland will try to make contact with a parallel universe this week. The Review's John Law wonders what good could come of it.

We thought we'd share a humorous post from a local newspaper. We're not sure what this writer smoked before crafting this article, but his theories are interesting to say the least!

By John Law

So if I don't get a chance after this week, let me tell you good readers it was a pleasure knowing you and sorry about the typos.

If this is the end, I regret nothing. Except that one college party we dared Dennis to chug a two-litre bottle of Coke. I didn't know a man could throw up that much.
